Remove the media from the computer. Send us just the hard drive(s), tape(s), floppy, jaz, zip, optical, flashcard or microdrive etc.

  • Before moving a computer, hard drive or other component, discharge personal static build up by touching a grounded metal object, such as a plugged-in computer chassis.
  • Handle a hard disk drive carefully, even if it is damaged; it is a fragile component.
  • Wrap media in an anti-static bag or similar material to prevent electrostatic discharge.
  • Use a box that is at least twice the size of the media so that the media can be suspended in the middle of the box. We recommend a minimum of 5 centimetres of insulation all around for a standard hard drive.

Pack securely with foam or bubble wrap so the media will not move from the middle of the box. Avoid using styrofoam peanuts as contents will settle to the bottom of the box and attract static electricity.

  • Make sure your parcel is clearly labeled as 'FRAGILE' and don't forget to include a completed and signed Work Order form.
  • Inform us by fax/e-mail the courier company's details and the shipping number.
  • All shipping charges are the responsibility of the customer, regardless if the data is recovered or not.

Shipping:

Before you ship your media please fill out and print the CyberCorp Work Order to send with your media. To save time in our office, we suggest that you complete this form before shipping your media.

Hard disk drives (HDDs) and other magnetic media (FDD, zip disks, etc) can be critically damaged by static electricity, shock, and other factors, often resulting in additional drive damage. Use the following instructions for shipping and proper handling of your media.

General Instructions:

  • STATIC - make sure your media is placed in antistatic bags before packing. You can typically find these bags at an electronics supply store.
  • SHOCK AND VIBRATION - Shock and/or vibration can cause further damage to your media. To insure the media is protected at all times, package the media in a box with at least 5cm of padding (i.e. foam, bubble wrap) on ALL 6 SIDES. Please do NOT pack with Styrofoam peanuts. Failures caused by shock and/or vibration account for one third of all HDD troubles.
  • LAPTOPS - If the hard drive is inside a laptop computer the drive needs to be removed before sending.

    Contact Information Required
As soon as we receive your media we will contact you if any additional paperwork is needed - so please include our Work Order form inside the shipped package.

    Returned Data
After we have finished your data recovery it will be returned to you, whether on another drive, CD-ROM, DVD, or any other media of your choice.
